The Darrelle Revis’ soap opera continued today with a visit to the Giants’ doctor for the Jets’ cornerback. Let’s take a look at the latest developments . . .
ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio reported Monday that once the medical info is evaluated, the Jets’ brass will then decide the “right thing to do.”
I found this reporting intriguing.
As I’ve said many times, the Jets are in lock down mode. Everyone has been told to “shut-up,” by Woody Johnson after last year’s leak epidemic.
So why would somebody tell “Sal Pal” that the Jets brass will evaluate Revis’ medical evaluation and decide “the right thing to do?”
First of all, the Jets brass has repeatedly said they aren’t looking to trade Revis.
I’m not saying they won’t trade him, but their public posture has been they aren’t looking to do it.
They have said that repeatedly.
So with this being the team’s position, why would anybody tell Paolantonio they will look at the MRI and then “do the right thing?”
I don’t think they did.
This is what I found out.
First of all, I was told he didn’t get this info from the Jets’ organization.
And from what I understand, while it came out like Paolantonio got this from somebody with the team, what he was actually doing was phrasing the situation as he saw it.
So, in other words, nobody in the building said that to Sal.
It was his assessment of what might be going on . . .
As you know by now, Revis showed up at the complex today after the Jets’ cornerback had an early morning appointment with the Giants’ team doctor to look over the knee that the Giants’ team doctor operated on.
The Giants’ team doctor cleared the Jets’ corner to run full speed.
Revis going to the Giants’ team doctor for his surgery was a typical Neil Schwartz move to tweak the Jets. Jets team doctor Ken Montgomery is excellent.
And the Jets were pissed at Revis for dissing their doctor this way. This was a major league dis.
The Jets are really going to have to think long and hard about signing Schwartz clients in the future. Whether it’s Revis, Pete Kendall or Chris Baker, this agent constantly travels on the low road when dealing with Gang Green.
When Revis drove his Mini-Cooper into the Jets’ complex lot today, he blew past the reporters, offering no comment.
Revis had already taken care of the Daily News early that morning at the Hospital for Special Surgery heading into the hospital to see the Giants’ doctor.
“I’m all good,” Revis told the Daily News.
“[Revis and Schwartz] will take care of Daily News and everyone else can scratch themselves,” said one beat writer.
The Daily News has been accused by some of carrying the water for Revis and Schwartz in their battle with the Jets.
But the medical news was good for Revis today. If the Jets are serious about making a trade with Tampa Bay, they could now allow the player to meet with Tampa Bay, so they can checkout his knee out.
Peter King is reporting that the package being discussed (he would be getting this from Tampa Bay or Schwartz) is a 1, 3 and a 5.
That sounds about right . . .
