Glenn goes after reporter, but shouldn’t he be going after somebody else?

Massachusetts – Aaron Glenn refused to talk about injuries at his Tuesday press conference.

“I’m going to pass on talking about injuries, since Rich (Cimini), oh he’s not here, has all the answers. So, you guys can get all the injuries from Rich,” Glenn said.

This sarcasm was perhaps triggered by Cimini’s report that Garrett Wilson will be out 3-4 weeks with a knee injury.

First off, nobody should make a big deal about this press conference stuff, because it’s not something that will impact the product on the field one iota.

It’s just a frivolous sidebar in the football world, not something that impacts the bottom line.

But in fairness, whether you like Cimini’s work or not, what did he do wrong here?

Put your personal feelings aside about his coverage. What did the long-time Jets beat writer do wrong here?

He got information from a source that the player is likely out 3-4 weeks.

If Glenn has an issue with a journalist reporting this, some would argue the issue should be with the source of the information, not the writer.

No idea where the information came from, but these nuggets often come from agents, and Wilson and Glenn, based on past reports, are with the same agency – CAA. This might have changed. People change agents all the time.

Not saying CAA had anything to do with this, just saying this stuff often comes from agents.

But who really cares? In the big picture, while this story is fun to talk about, and the sports talking heads are having a field day with it, it has no impact on winning and losing, blocking and tackling.

So let’s keep it in context.
