On Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, the Jets will have to use their third different slot cornerback this season.
To start the season, Michael Carter manned the position, but he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles on October 29, 2025, along with a 2027 seventh-round pick for wide receiver John Metchie and a 2027 sixth-round pick.
Carter was replaced by Jarvis Brownlee, whom the Jets had acquired in late September from the Tennessee Titans. The Jets sent a 2026 sixth-round pick to Tennessee and received Brownlee and a 2026 seventh-round pick in return.
But Brownlee went down with a hip injury last week and will miss his second straight game.
So now they will likely turn to Jordan Clark, an undrafted rookie free agent out of Notre Dame, the son of former NFL safety Ryan Clark, now with ESPN.
“JC (Jordan Clark), he’ll do a hell of a job with that,” Jets coach Aaron Glenn said on Friday. “He’s smart, he’s instinctive, he’s played a bunch of ball. Man, obviously his dad played a lot of ball, so he’s well aware of what’s going on when it comes to that.”
Clark played for the Fighting Irish last season after spending his first four seasons at Arizona State. He might not have blazing speed (4.64 forty), but he’s a good fit for slot corner because he has good instincts, terrific short-area quickness, and is very willing in run support.
