Former Jets QB Zach Wilson, now with Miami, said something last week at Dolphins minicamp that is somewhat surprising.
Wilson claims he had never been told before landing with Miami this off-season that he was “late” on some throws.
“It’s crazy because I’ve never been told before at past places like, ‘Hey, you’re late.’” Wilson said last week. “Even with a strong arm, it’s not like, ‘Hey, you’re late on this throw.’”
Wilson was late with throws at times with the Jets during his stint with the team.
You’re telling me nobody told him that during his three years with the club?
That’s a little bit of a head-scratcher.
Look, I’m not looking to pick on Wilson, because when it comes to young quarterbacks being late on throws, he has a ton of company. It’s a common problem. Many young quarterbacks aren’t good at throwing with anticipation; they often want to see it open before throwing it, and that leads to late throws.
Look, it’s hard to verify that shocking claim without having been in the QB meetings during Wilson’s time with the Jets, However, some might find it hard to believe that nobody said during the player’s three years with the team, while going over the film of a game, “Hey, you were a little late on that throw.”
