Glenn is circumspect when talking about this player . . .

Brian Costello gave it the old college try.

The New York Post scribe asked Aaron Glenn on Thursday for his thoughts on facing Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1.

“We have 17 really good games that we have to play, and I’m looking forward to playing every one of them,’ Glenn said.

Clearly, he didn’t answer the specific question, just like when Glenn was asked during the draft what he thought of Rodgers criticizing him for how he handled their final Jets meeting.

“(Armand) Membou’s a really good player, and I’m so excited that he’s a Jet,” Glenn said,

Glenn was asked a follow-up question by Costello on Thursday about how he can avoid the Steelers-Jets matchup becoming a big distraction to this team, with all the hoopla that should surround that contest.

“Listen, this is the NFL, and to me, every game there is a lot of noise because they’re so critical as far as wins and losses,” Glenn said. “And we want to try to accumulate as many wins as we can, and I don’t care who that opponent is. If it’s a high school team, we want to beat them. If it’s a college team, we want to beat them. It just so happened to be Pittsburgh.”

Once again, no specific answer about facing Rodgers.

The only way you might get a more specific answer about facing the legend he cut this off-season is an old school journalistic approach with myriad follow-up questions, a blitzkrieg, but times have changed, and Gary Myers is retired. That is not likely to happen in 2025.

So Glenn’s approach to answering Rodgers’ questions in an evasive manner isn’t going to change in Week 1.

Heck, he’s never told us why he cut Rodgers.

So the bottom line is he’s not going to give us a straight answer about Rodgers, and we all need to get used to that.

This blog is not a complaint, just an analysis.

Because Glenn will not be judged by winning press conferences, but by whether he wins enough on Sundays.
