It could be a great staff, but there is little proof of this theory . . .

According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, former Jets GM and now team consultant Mike Tannenbaum, said on ESPN Radio, that one thing that impressed the Jets about Aaron Glenn, during the interview process, was the belief that he can build a strong staff.

“(He’s) a person that people want to work for,” Tannenbaum said according to Cimini.

Perhaps this is true, but how is possible to know what kind of staff somebody will be able to build before the staff is built?

Glenn has never built a staff before.

Was a survey done of assistant coaches around the football world about whether they would want to work for Glenn?

Look, Glenn could build a great staff, but unless he had a list of big-time assistants lined up to join him when he got the job, which doesn’t seem to be the case so far, why would this be considered one of the attributes that attracted the team to him?

He certainly has other attributes, like alpha dog leadership ability, and the fact that he holds guys accountable, but this narrative that he will be able to build a strong staff because “he’s a person that people want to work for,” that remains to be seen.
