They can win without him, but he could help against this opponent . . .

The Jets will face one of the NFL’s most high-octane offenses on Monday Night in San Francisco.

With perhaps the NFL’s best play-caller, Kyle Shanahan, and an efficient point guard under center in Brock Purdy, tossing to myriad weapons, the 49ers’ offense creates quite a challenge for opposing defenses.

So traveling out there to play them probably without your most dangerous edge-rusher is far from ideal.

While Haason Reddick has never played a game for the Jets, based on his play over the last four seasons, he’s the team’s most productive edge-rusher.

Just ask Purdy, who Reddick, while with the Philadelphia Eagles, sacked in a playoff game in January of 2023, knocking him out of the contest with an elbow injury.

I’m not saying the Jets can’t win at San Francisco without Reddick if he doesn’t play.

But it’s always ideal to have your best edge rusher on hand when facing Shanahan and his well-oiled machine.

And right now, even though he has yet to take the field with the Jets, Reddick, is perhaps their best pass rusher, having amassed 50.5 sacks over the last four seasons.
