During the Jets’ 24-3 win over the New England Patriots last Thursday, New England Patriots long-time radio analyst Scott Zolak said Aaron Rodgers looks like he did “three years ago.”
Rodgers finished the game 27 of 35 passes (77.1 percent), for two touchdowns, no picks, and a 118.9 QB rating.
As “Zo” pointed out, that was reminiscent of how Rodgers played in 2021 when he won his fourth league MVP, leading the Green Bay Packers to a 13-3 record.
Notice that Zolak said “three years ago” and not “two years ago.”
In his last year in Green Bay, in 2022, Rodgers had an average season by his standards, and the Packers finished 8-9. He played a big chunk of that season with a thumb injury.
So if the Jets are getting a now healthy Rodgers, who is playing again as he did in 2021, the Jets could be poised for a terrific season.
The 2021 Rodgers was superb, and the Packers should have done better in the playoffs (they lost to San Francisco in the Divisional Round), but were sabotaged by awful special teams.
