Initial thoughts on Jets pick of Quinton Coples Dan Leberfeld
This isn’t a good pick, it’s a great pick.
This guy has Richard Seymour-potential as a 3-4 end.
He is the most physically-gifted defensive lineman in the draft.
Did his motor run hot and cold as a senior, sure, but I don’t think that will be be a problem in New York with Sione Pouha next to him, Bart Scott in back of him, and with Rex Ryan and Karl Dunbar coaching him.
Would I have picked him in the Top 10 with the motor concerns? Probably not.
But at 16, he’s an outstanding value.
