There have been numerous reports saying the Jets are interested in free agent wide receiver Laveranues Coles.
The latest was in Pro Football Weekly.
“WR Laveranues Coles is still a free agent, and the Jets, who reportedly have been in contact with his agent, remain a potential destination for him,” wrote PFW. “The team will be without WR Santonio Holmes for the first four weeks of the regular season while Holmes serves a suspension, and could use a servicable veteran like Coles to bolster depth at the position.”
Considering the Cincinnati Bengals released Coles after one season because they thought he was done, these reports don’t make a great deal of sense.
And in David Clowney, the Jets certainly have a player who can handle the #3 receiver job until Holmes returns.
