Is Rex’s agent causing major distractions for Jets?

Tonight, the Jets’ main focus should be on the San Diego Chargers.

But once again, there are distractions surrounding the team.

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, who is close with Tim Tebow’s agent, Jimmy Sexton, “League sources say it is a virtual certainty Tim Tebow will land a job back home with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2013.”

You do that math – who do you think the source is? It’s probably Sexton.

Earlier this week, there was another big story about Tebow wanting out after this season.

The Jets have two games left against San Diego and Buffalo.

Whether they are in the playoff hunt or not, that is where the focus should be, not on Tebow’s future.

Tebow’s camp is clearly causing distractions right now. How does that jibe with the image the player espouses of being a team player?

Tebow wants out of New York, which is understandable, but why can’t these rumors, likely from his camp, wait until after the season?

As Trevor Pryce wrote in the New York Times, Rex Ryan needs to stop being Mr Nice Guy.

He should tell Sexton, the likely source of the ESPN story, to put a sock in it, until after the season.

Or maybe Rex should find a new agent.
