At the scouting combine in Indianapolis, Jets GM Joe Douglas was asked about the team’s culture.
“Weirdly enough I feel like the culture is in a really good place as far as the people that we have,” Douglas said on Wednesday.
Some might agree with that contention that their culture is “in a really good place.” Some might disagree, especially after that recent story in “The Athletic,” with 30 sources, not painting the culture at 1 Jets Drive in the best light. The story was co-authored by Jets beatwriter Zack Rosenblatt.
Aaron Rodgers said late in the season, even before The Athletic story, about leaks (after a leak about Zach Wilson not wanting to start anymore): “I think it’s chicken s— at its core, and I think it has no place at a winning organization.”
So perhaps there are things about the culture that need to be “fine-tuned” as Rodgers said on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
One important aspect to a strong football culture is always making “the main thing the main thing” and that is winning games on Sunday. Instagram can’t help with that.
As Rodgers put it after the season: “Anything in this building that we’re doing that has nothing to do with winning needs to be assessed. Everything that we do has to have a purpose … the bullsh.. that has nothing to do with winning has to get out of the building.”
So maybe there is a little work to do on the culture. Just ask #8.
