It was different levels of intensity . . .

Granted, it was just a preseason game, but it was clear the Jets were playing at a higher intensity level than Green Bay, in Gang Green’s 30-10 win over the Packers at Lambeau Field on Saturday.

The Jets clearly wanted it more. Their new coach, Aaron Glenn, had them playing with their “hair on fire” to use an old coaching cliche, and the Packers were sleepwalking, and the final score reflected that, no matter which lineup configuration each team rolled out.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur feels his team got its “ass kicked.”

“Too many penalties, drops, missed tackles, bad decision making, and it really showed up in every phase of football,” LaFleur said after the game. “And if you do that, you’re going to get your ass kicked, and that’s exactly what happened.”

While the Jets have some things to clean up coming out of this game, like all preseason games, nobody can question their collective motors from start to finish, even with a lot of different lineups.

From beginning to end, the Jets played with a lot of intensity and toughness.

And the Packers didn’t.

“That was a humbling experience,” LaFleur said after the game. “Definitely not what we want to put out there.”

But definitely what the Jets wanted to put out there in their first action under Glenn.

We all know the X’s and O’s are vanilla in the preseason, but there was nothing vanilla about the Jets’ effort, something Packers legendary coach Vince Lombardi would have respected in the stadium he made famous.

“There’s only one way to succeed in anything, and that is to give it everything,” Lombardi once said.

While they need to clean up the penalties, the Jets seemed to give “everything” they had on Saturday night.
