Rex Ryan told Manish Mehta that Quinton Coples and Stephen Hill were the two players they considered picking with the 16th pick of the first round.
“Certainly our guys thought that much of (Hill),” Ryan told the New York Daily News. “We got the two guys we wanted.”
Hill at 16 would have been a reach, considering he only had 49 career catches at Georgia Tech, and needs work on his route running.
Where the Jets picked Hill, in the second round, made a lot more sense.
