Jets need a guy like this in the draft

Not in the first round, but maybe the second, this guy could fill an underrated need for Gang Green.

Talking about Michigan defensive tackle Mazi Smith. The Jets need to do a better job stopping the run up the middle, and this Wolverine could help them do that.

“When you look at Mazi Smith, he is up there in my top 50,” said NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremaih. “He is 330-plus pounds. He has quickness. He can overpower you.”

Jeremiah added: “You can’t move him in the run game, and he played really well in their biggest game of the year.”

The Jets have a lot of lighter, quicker DTs, who are quick into gaps, but they could also use a massive interior force who can take up double teams.

So Smith could be perfect for them in the second round.
