Florham Park – Jets cornerback Nahshon Wright played for the Chicago Bears last year, so he faced the Green Bay Packers offense twice.
So he has a good feel for what makes the Jets’ next opponent’s offense so tough to deal with.
Wright feels that Packers head coach/OC Matt LaFleur is a great play-caller who does a good job of spreading the ball around in his play-calling.
“[LaFleur] does a good job of knowing his personnel and knowing what his receivers’ strong suits are, and he gets them in the right spots and allows them to be playmakers,” Wright told Jets Confidential. “And obviously, you have a quarterback (Jordan Love) who can make all the throws.”
Wright feels that with all the talent the Packers have in the receiving room, including Christian Watson, Matthew Golden and Jayden Reed, the Packers do a good job of not making it clear who their #1 receiver is.
“You don’t know who the Receiver 1 is going to be from Week 1 to Week 10 to Week 11,” Wright said. “They have guys who can make a play at any moment of the game.”
And then you throw in Tucker Kraft, one of the best tight ends in the league, who is back after missing half of last season with a knee injury.
“You look at the first [eight] weeks last year when he was playing, their offense was a lot more explosive, just because Tucker Kraft brings another element,” Wright said.
Wright says it’s important to get pressure on Love, because he can be lethal from a clean pocket.
“If he has a clean pocket, he can make every throw,” Wright said. “He makes throws off his back foot. He can make every throw if he’s in a clean pocket.”
