Long-time NFL writer Gary Myers, of the Daily News, led off his column today, with these words –
“It feels like the NFL is adding an expansion team for the 2013 season and calling it the New York Jets,” wrote Myers.
I respectfully disagree with the premise.
First of all, let’s see what the Jets’ roster looks like when the season starts. NFL teams have just started their off-season business. It’s very early in the process – a lot will change between now and September.
Secondly, even if the Jets are mediocre this year, they will win their fair share of games.
There just aren’t a lot of elite teams in the NFL right now. There is a lot of mediocrity, parity, whatever you want to call it.
I can assure you, when the Jets open the season, their roster will look nothing like that of an expansion team.
