Two weeks in a row it happened.
And the Jets need to fix this.
Against New England, Patrios tight end Pharoah Brown caught a 58-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Mac Jones early in the second quarter. On the play, Brown got behind a linebacker and safety. He was wide open.
Against Kansas City, late first quarter, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes hit tight end Noah Gray for a 34-yard touchdown. He got behind a safety and corner. He was wide open.
Opposing tight ends are going to make plays, but it goes without saying, you can’t have blown coverages like this, leaving tight ends this wide open.
So it’s fair to say the Jets’ tight end coverage must improve moving forward.
You can’t allow lay-ups like this.
