If this were the logic, I really don’t get it. This was written before the game.
“Everything I’ve been told this week indicates that Justin Fields — who has started both of those games — will get another start Thursday night against the Patriots because the team wouldn’t want to make such a big change on a short week,” ESPN’s Dan Graziano wrote on Thursday.
Why would a short week have anything to do with this decision?
Tyrod Taylor is just as well-versed in the offense as Fields, and is the more experienced player, who has proven over the years he doesn’t need a lot of reps to function in games . . .
On the other Henderson TD run in the first half, it was a pitch left to Henderson for a seven-yard TD. Michael Clemons was on the edge on tat side, and runner cut inside of him for a TD – he could not adjust.
People will be quick to attack Michael Clemons on the Henderson TD run. Not his fault. He’s not a 4-3 end – not athletic enough, hip stiffness – he should be playing inside. Not putting the player in the best position to be successful. It is what it is . . .
After Justin Fields was prolific running on the Jets’ first offensive series, which resulted in a score, on a 7-yard TD run, Pats radio analyst Scott Zolak made an interesting comment at about Jets QB.
“I don’t think he’s a quarterback that can run, he’s a running back that can throw,” Zolak said . . .
On the first drive of the third quarter, the Jets were very sloppy. Exemplified by these two plays:
Fields was called for intentional grounding on a play where he left the pocket and then ran back into the pocket.
“Awful by Fields here, awful – he moved back into the pocket to ground it,” Zolak said.
Then late in the drive, Joe Tippmann had a late hit.
“God are they a dumb team.” – Zolak after Tippmann penalty. “Another dumb play, they just stack them. Dumb team.” . . .
The Jets ends kept running past the QB too far upfield allowing Drake Maye to step up in the pocket and either run or complete passes.
If the ends keep running past the QB, it’s like you are playing 9-on-11 football . . .
Jets offensive line was superb tonight. They are really hit their stride the last two games. Very talented unit.
An offensive line playing this well should lead to more success through the air, but it’s just has happened the last two games, where the line played their best football.
Can you imagine what Aaron Rodgers could have done behind a line this talented?
That would have been interesting.
His line in Pitttsburgh isn’t great . . .
This trade for John Metchie looks like a major steal.
There was so much attention paid to the trade of Quinnen Williams to Dallas and Sauce Gardner to Indianapolis that the trade of cornerback Michael Carter to Philadelphia for Metchie has kind of been obscured.
This guy looks like he’s going to be a major contributor for the Jets, especially as a slot receiver with his terrific short-area quickness to cut away from defensive backs.
He runs good routes, he has great hands, and he’s extremely bright. The cerebral University of Alabama product speaks the King’s English.
What a terrific trade . . .
There were a lot of chants of “MVP” for Drake Maye tonight in Foxboro.
Nice player, but not the league MVP . . .
Jets Cornerback Jarvis Brownlee (pictured above) had a rough game, and he owned it.
“If you have three penalties at DB, that is f-in terrible,” Brownlee said after the game . . .
Harrison Phillips, a true warrior, could hardly walk after the game. He was questionable for the game with a foot injury, and left the locker room with an electo-stim device taped to his lower leg area, so it looks like he added another injury.
