It would be ridiculous for the Jets to suspend or de-activate wide receiver Braylon Edwards (DWI) for a game.
That would make no sense.
Herman Edwards once de-activated defensive end John Abraham for a game following a drunk driving offense.
I never thought that made sense.
This is the NFL. There are 16 regular season games. Each one is of enormous significance. This isn’t baseball.
When you suspend or de-activate a star player, you are hurting the team’s chances of winning one of these games.
This isn’t college or Little League. You don’t risk a game to send a message.
The message can be sent with a big fine and community service.
