According to several published reports, the Jets paid CB Darrelle Revis a $1 million roster bonus today.
Perhaps they could have traded him before this bonus kicked in to avoid paying that money, but that probably would have been shortsighted.
Why rush a very important potential trade, one of the most important deals the organization will ever make, if they pull the trigger, just to avoid paying a $1 million bonus? The NFL is a multi-billion dollar industry, so in the big picture, $1 million is a fly speck in the ocean.
The Jets need to wait this out, and try to land a blockbuster offer for Revis.
And if they don’t get blown away with an offer, they should consider keeping the player.
