The Jets will start Geno Smith at quarterback against Tampa Bay.
Mark Sanchez is out this week due to a bruised shoulder caused by a questionable coaching decision.
So Smith is the guy this week.
If the Jets are interested in winning this year, they need to see if Smith is up to the challenge, and if he’s not, it’s only fair to his teammates that they try somebody else, and not let the season slip away.
This isn’t NFL Europe.
We will see if he’s ready.
“He’s not ready to play,” former NFL GM Charlie Casserly said on the NFL Network last week. “The problems I saw in college he showed in the preseason – he held the ball too long, he was late on throws, he forced throws and he was inaccurate.”
