While some in the media will make this into a joke, because that is what they do with the Jets, the signing of Graham Harrell is smart.
Mark Sanchez (shoulder) and Greg McElroy (leg) are hurt, and Geno Smith is a project, so to bring in Harrell makes sense.
He’s been trained really well in the West Coast offense the last three years in Green Bay, so he’s a good fit for Marty Morhinweg’s system.
Harrell is also a very smart guy, so he will pick up up the nuances of the Jets’ West Coast system (no two are exactly alike) pretty quickly.
Harrell has been trained well the last three seasons, playing behind and learning from Aaron Rogers, one the game’s top quarterbacks. Also, QB coach Tom Clements is one of the best in the business, so Harrell got some excellent teaching from both Clements and head coach Mike McCarthy, a good trainer of quarterbacks himself.
This is a very smart move by the Jets.
