Jets GM John Idzik has announced that quarterback Geno Smith will start the team’s September 22 encounter with the Buffalo Bills.
“Right now, our sights are set on this week in Buffalo and Geno will be our quarterback for Buffalo,” Idzik said Saturday afternoon during a conference call with writers who cover the team.
Smith, a raw rookie, threw three interceptions in the fourth quarter of the Jets’ last game, a 13-10 loss to the New England Patriots, in Foxboro, on Thursday night.
