The Jets had a bunch of their former players at practice today.
That is nothing new.
Former players have been at practice before.
But new Jets GM John Idzik, who is attempting to improve relations with the teams’ former players, and embrace the past more. took things to another level today.
Idzik spent a lot of time with the alumni during practice, and brought Rex Ryan over at one point to join him.
Idzik also invited the former players to go on the field and watch drills by guys at their former positions.
He also had the former players join the huddle at the end of practice, and the current players gave them an ovation.
Idzik stepped up in a big way today.
And this was a major step in the right direction for the Jets’ organization.
