Jets staffer on key weapon – ‘going to find ways to move him around’

One of the most important hires to Aaron Glenn’s staff was passing game coordinator Scott Turner.

With a first-time NFL play-caller being hired in Tanner Engstrand, having Turner in the building, who has called plays in the NFL, will benefit the Jets’ new offensive coordinator, giving him a great sounding board.

And as the man overseeing the Jets’ passing offense, Turner can’t contain his excitement about working with the team’s #1 passing game weapon, wide receiver Garrett Wilson.

“He can do it all,” Turner said during OTAs to a small group of reporters. “He’s a receiver who can play inside and outside, he has a big catching radius, really good concentration and gets off the ball. He’s one of those guys who has the rare combination of being smooth AND sudden – very rarely you see both.”

Turner and Engstrand are in the lab, coming up with myriad ways to get this guy the ball and let him do his thing.

“I think we are going to find ways to move him around and get him the ball a lot,”
Turner said.
