Leon Washington was a heck of a player for the Jets, but I’m tired of reading how he was a victim.
Well, actually he was a victim – of a bad agent.
He should have taken the Jets offer last summer (somewhere in the $4-5 million a year area with $10 million guaranteed) and moved on with his life.
And, he should never have fired his first agent, Alan Herman.
Leon’s theorized that Herman was too close to Mike Tannenbaum, and that would hurt him in negotiations.
I think he had that backwards. It would have helped him.
It was tragic what happened to Washington last year. I hope he recovers, has a great career and gets a big contract in Seattle.
But lets stop making him a martyr and connecting his plight to Darrelle Revis.
That is a reach.
