New York Daily News sports/political columnist Mike Lupica, in his column today, blamed Rex Ryan for the poor play of Mark Sanchez the last two years.
“If there is one thing for which Rex should be accountable it is the almost Biblical collapse of Sanchez over the last couple of years,” wrote Lupica.
I totally disagree.
Ryan can’t make a quarterback read defenses better. Ryan can’t improve a QB’s pocket presence. Ryan can’t improve a QB’s accuracy. Ryan can’t improve a QB’s decision-making.
The only thing I blame Ryan for is staying with Sanchez too long.
And then going back to him, after he was pulled against Arizona.
But to blame Ryan for the quarterback’s inherent shortcomings, is foolish.
