The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport had a blockbuster report on Friday, stating that Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg wants Geno Smith to be the team’s starting quarterback.

“Here is what I’m told about Mornhinweg,” said Rapoport. “If he has a vote, it would unequivocally be for Geno Smith, even if Mark Sanchez is healthy. He loves Smith, he gushes about him. That is something to keep in mind for the Jets quarterback competition.”
