The Jets’ run defense up the middle has not been great the last couple of weeks.
Losing defensive tackle David Onyemata during the Green Bay game certainly didn’t help.
In Detroit, the Jets got gashed up the middle on the ground repeatedly.
They have an interesting prospect on their practice squad who might be able to help by the name of Isaiahh Loudermilk.
The 6-7, 293-pound Wisconsin product could help their run defense.
A 2021 5th-round pick of the Pittsburgh, he spent the first five years of his career with the Steelers, so you know he’s well-versed in playing defensive line in a 3-4 front.
His defensive line coach throughout his entire stay in Pittsburgh was Karl Dunbar, who was hired by the Jets this past offseason to coach their D-Line.
So you know he got good coaching in Pittsburgh from Dunbar, and you know darn well that after he was cut by Minnesota this summer, Big Karl highly recommended this player to the Jets’ personnel department.
You could argue the Jets need to change things up a little at DT after the last couple of games, and maybe one potential tweak could be getting Loudermilk in the mix.
