Mike White isn’t falling into the trap Dan Leberfeld
There is only one thing Mike White (and the rest of his teammates) should be focusing on right now.
And that is beating the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Nothing beyond that should be on their minds.
So White didn’t go for the cheese when asked the following questions on Wednesday:
Q)It seems to be a remarkable opportunity for you going forward, long-term, perhaps establish yourself as the starter here for more than a couple of weeks. Do you see it as that?
“I remember when we first talked when this whole ride started,” White said. “It was week-to-week, day-to-day. I got to fall back on that. Just because it’s longer in the season, you can’t do that. You can’t do that for yourself because you won’t play well, your mind will race. I feel like I’ve said that 15 times, but I truly believe it. I’ll say it 16 or 17 more times. I think that’s the only way to play this game, especially in this League. It’s a week-to-week basis. Things change so fast. You just got to be in the moment, be in the now, and focus on that.”
Smart guy.
If you look too far into the future, you can mess up your focus on the current job at hand.
So while some are asking him to focus on what might happen after this season, he’s not going there right now.
