LINDEN, NJ – New York Jets Defensive Lineman Muhammad Wilkerson and his T.E.A.M. 96 Foundation have partnered with Applebee’s® to award five student-athletes from Union and Suffolk County with $1,000 college scholarships.
Wilkerson will make the presentation to Sha-Quan Champagne and Shannon Walsh of Linden High School on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 7:00pm during the school’s annual awards’ ceremony. Then on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 6:00pm, Wilkerson will travel to Wyandanch Memorial High School in Suffolk County to present Joy’l Payne with her scholarship. The final presentations will be made to Wilmar Rusinque and Angel Hierrezuelo from Elizabeth High School on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00am during a special assembly.
“I want to continue to do things that will improve the quality of life for the people from my community,” says Wilkerson. “I have had children come up to me and ask for my help. That takes a lot of courage. I am just happy to be able to give back in some type of way through my foundation.
