There has been much speculation that Jets owner Woody Johnson wants to move on from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who threw four touchdowns in the team’s win over Miami in their season finale.
But considering the Jets are searching for a new GM and head coach, many would argue that the new football brass should make that decision.
And that is what Johnson intends to do.
“That’s going to be up to the coach,” Johnson said about Rodgers’ future in an exclusive interview with the New York Post. “The coach will have to decide what the quarterback situation is. That’s going to be a very important job for the general manager and the coach.”
That is the way it should be – let the football people make football decisions.
Jets fans, some who perhaps feel ownership meddles too much in football moves, at times, should be happy to hear Mr. Johnson say that.
