NFL draft analyst – Jets need to ‘hit it out of the park’ Dan Leberfeld

With four picks in the top 38, the Jets need to “hit it out of the park” according to one top draft analyst.

They’ve got to get four guys who scare opponents.

“They’ve got to get difference-making players,” said former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah, who worked with Joe Douglas in Baltimore, and is now with the NFL Network. “They’ve got to get playmakers on this team. You’ve got to get guys that teams fear. They’ve got to go get some of those guys in this draft.”

They got three of those guys in last year’s draft with WR Elijah Moore, RB Michael Carter and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker. Slot corner Michael Carter isn’t necessarily a game-wrecker but looks like he could be a solid nickel corner. Last year’s draft certainly added some key pieces for the Jets.

“I think the early returns from that (2021) group are pretty positive,” Jeremiah said. “The quarterback is TBD, but I think when you look at Elijah Moore, you look at the two Michael Carters and some of the things they got in that draft, Vera-Tucker is going to be a stud. I think they’ve started off well with that one and now they’ve got to hit it out of the park with this one.”
