Florham Park – The last three Jets’ head coaches were assistants making the leap to the top job.

Herman Edwards 2001–2005.

Eric Mangini 2006–2008.

Rex Ryan 2009-2014.

It’s time for the Jets to hire an bona-fide head coach, a man who enters the building knowing the whys and wherefores of being a head coach.

Whether it’s a big-time college coach, or a former NFL head coach, it’s time for the Jets to hire a coach who enters the building with an understanding of how to run a program.

After three straight coaches learning on the job, the Jets need a guy who enters the scene comfortable in his head coaching skin.
