Former Chicago Bears quarterback Brian Hoyer might have been a nice fit for the Jets, but it should come as no surprise he signed with San Francisco . . .
Hoyer worked under 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan in Cleveland. In fact, when Browns owner forced Hoyer out of the lineup late in 2014 season in favor of Johnny Manziel, Shanahan quit after that season, and this was the big reason. When you quit over a player being unfairly benched, that is quite a statement, so these two guys have an enormous bond, and this marriage in San Francisco, should surprise nobody.
The Bills did a huge favor to the Jets by re-signing Tyrod Taylor. The Jets might have ended up overpaying for average. And I think he’s a terrible fit for John Morton’s West Coast Offense. Now I understand Todd Bowles said Morton’s flexible, and isn’t married to the WC Offense, but that is a system he has an extensive background in, and it would be helpful to Morton to get a player in the building who fits that system.
I’ve said it before, and I will say it again – the Jets should pick up the phone and call Philly and trade a middle round pick for Chase Daniel. He’s ready for a starting role, and is also a leader. He would also be an amazing mentor to the Jets’ QB of the future Christian Hackenberg. Daniel was very helpful to Carson Wentz in Philly last year, and a great support system for Alex Smith in Kansas City . . .
This guy is something else. He’s been with the Giants 24 hours, and he already in a position to analyze that organization.
“There’s a stability in ownership,” Brandon Marshall said about the Giants today. “Since I’ve been in New York, all I’ve heard is amazing things about how well-run this organization is. Now I can understand why everybody holds the Giants organization so high.”
What the heck is he talking about?
Giants are coming off the Josh Brown fiasco, the South Beach boat trip with Odell Beckham, and Beckham’s non-stop nonsense. What is so great about the Giants organization right now?
This is the stuff I’ve been hearing for years – how the Giants are so much classier than the Jets. Whatever? They’ve been more successful as far as Super Bowl wins, no doubt. But I’m so tired of hearing about this classy stuff.
They have a high-ranking executive who made fat jokes about Rex Ryan on Twitter. The same executive recently called Curt Schilling an a-hole on on Twitter.
The Giants have been more successful than the Jets in terms of rings. No doubt about that. But this narrative they are classier organization is rubbish.
And what does Marshall mean about stable ownership. Is he taking a shot at Woody Johnson who just paid him well the last couple of years, and called him after the Jets released him.
I can’t verify that Marshall was taking a shot at the Jets when he talked about the Giants stable ownership, but it certainly sounded that way.
Look, I respect Marshall a great deal as a player. He’s a rare talent, but I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of this guy’s rhetoric.
I’m glad I don’t have to chase his quotes anymore . . .
