Jets rookie OLB David Bailey went down with an ankle injury late in Saturday’s practice.
I did not see how the injury happened, but did follow him on the practice field through binoculars for the rest of practice. The media was positioned pretty far away from where the injury happened.
Bailey limped off and was taken to a medical tent. Not like a medical tent during games, where you can’t see the player, but an exposed tent.
He was on a table being examined for a few minutes. But after a few minutes of evaluation by doctors, including longtime team orthopedist Dr. Elliott Hershman, Bailey got up and did some light running on a field next to where the Jets were practicing, and seemed to get through this fine.
When he was done with this light running and the medical people saw it wasn’t serious, he went back to join his teammates on the sidelines of the practice field. He didn’t practice anymore, but stood around with his position group and seemed in good spirits.
While it looked bad at first, it looks like the Jets dodged a bullet here.
