The 2024 draft is considered a strong one for offensive tackle prospects, with Notre Dame’s Joe Alt seemingly at the top of the class, and expected to go in the top seven.
While NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger loves Alt, he thinks when we look back at this draft in a few years, another player might turn out to be the best of the lot, and that is Alabama’s JC Latham.
“He might be the best of all them in a short period of time – JC Latham,” Baldinger said on his podcast – The Best Football Show. “I had a friend of mine, an elite tackle in this league, look at these tackles, and I said, ‘Who’s the best tackle?’ to this particular player and after studying them, he thought J.C. Latham was tackle #1.”
Here is more from “Baldy” on the player:
“6-5 and change, almost 6-6, at 342 pounds, huge baseball mitts for hands, exceptionally long arms, he uses his arms very well, been the right tackle at Alabama these last couple of years. He’s an elite prospect. He’s thick, very thick from the waist down. You can’t run him over. In the run game, he gets to the second level, combo blocks up to the second level, moving people. He’s what you’re looking for.”
