On Sunday, Fox’s Jay Glazer announced that the Jets are moving on from QB Aaron Rodgers.
On Tuesday, on her podcast, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that one of the sticking points between the Jets and Rodgers was his weekly spot with ESPN’s Pat McAfee during the season.
“You’re not going to do Pat McAfee interviews anymore,” Russini claims the new Jets brass told Rodgers.
It’s unclear, what his response was, but since Glazer announced they are moving on, perhaps the response wasn’t to the Jets liking.
So people wonder where Rodgers will land next, and some in the gambling world are putting the Pittsburgh Steelers as one of the favorites.
But there is one small problem with that according to Russini, who also reported on her podcast, that Steelers OC Arthur Smith, told the Jets when he interviewed for their HC job, he didn’t want to bring Rodgers back if he got the gig.
“I don’t think [Rodgers to Pittsburgh] would work either, because when Arthur Smith interviewed with the Jets, he was one of many candidates, almost every single one of them, who would have moved on from Rodgers,” Russini said.
To be able to find this out qualifies as great investigative reporting, and also qualifies as a blockbuster in the Steelers Nation.
