There is a lot of talk about how Rex Ryan is going to keep his job because of how well the coach gets along with Jets GM John Idzik.
There is no question that Ryan and Idzik have a solid relationship.
They seem to genuinely like each other.
A lot of people like Ryan. He’s a very likable guy.
But the decision about Ryan’s future goes deeper than that.
I’m sure there are plenty of business owners out there who have fired employees who they liked personally, but felt they needed somebody else for the job.
I’m not saying that is how Idzik views Rex.
But it’s possible that Idzik feels he needs a different coach who fits his blueprint better.
We will find out perhaps on Monday.
