Florham Park – Mark Sanchez probably should have been put on short-term IR last week.
Sanchez has a partially torn labrum in his right shoulder. The announcement was made by Fox’s Jay Glazer and ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.
Glazer also announced that Sanchez dislocated his right shoulder when the injury occurred against the Giants in the preseason.
A torn labrum with a dislocation is called a “Bankart Tear,” and when that happens, you “are more susceptible to future dislocations.,” according to orthopeadics.com.
This certainly sounds like an eight week injury, especially for a right-handed quarterback.
And for the eight weeks, the Jets could have used the roster spot for another player.
