Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer recently reported:
“Owner Arthur Blank’s group has brought the consulting firm Sportology, with whom they’ve partnered with for a while, in to work with them on the Falcons, as well as the MLS’ Atlanta United and the new NWSL expansion team he was awarded (they’ve worked with Blank on building the NWSL club for a little while). For the Falcons’ specifically, it’s an overall health check on the team’s operations. And it’s not been a secret within the walls of the football facility that the evaluation is ongoing.
“Mike Forde, a former executive for the Premier League’s Chelsea F.C., is Sportlogy’s founder, and former Texans GM Rick Smith is among the firm’s partners.”
Should the Jets consider hiring a firm like this?
Last year, a firm was brought in to evaluate the efficiency of their overall operation, and this led the organization to offer buyouts to 170 of 250 employees in early 2025.
Sports Business Journal writer Terry Lefton reported that these moves were culturally driven.
“Management’s motivation is cultural, not financial,” wrote Lefton
But now, with the Jets sitting at 3-13, after four straight blowout losses, some would argue they could use an “overall health check” of their football operations.
This is a seminal moment in Jets history.
Entering a huge off-season, they clearly need to make some changes, and you might need some eyes aside from lawyers and financial analysts to make suggestions to the owner on what needs to change in the football operation.
Maybe a company like Sportology can help.
Or perhaps Jets senior football advisor Rick Spielman can do an “overall health check.” He is the former GM of both the Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings. He knows a thing or two about football operations.
You can’t just ask the current HC and GM to do this “health check.”
Sometimes when you are too close to something, “you can’t see the forest for the trees,” as the old saying goes.
