They needed cap relief. Jets helped them and helped themselves.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter announced: “Ravens are sending starting right tackle Morgan Moses to the New York Jets as part of a pick swap, per sources.”

Baltimore needed to make some moves to get under the cap, and this was one of them.

This move makes sense for the Jets. Moses is a solid right tackle, who just turned 33, which isn’t necessarily old for a right tackle.

And he’s been very durable, starting 144 of the 152 games in the NFL during his nine-year career with Washington, the Jets and Baltimore.

He’s a pro’s pro with great technique who’s also a man of great character, who will be good for the Jets’ culture, which Aaron Rodgers said needs to be “fine-tuned.”

And considering Moses is only scheduled to make $5.5 million this year, the addition won’t take up a lot of cap space.

The Jets should continue adding linemen, but the additions of guard John Simpson, and Moses, both from the Ravens, is a good start.
