You can’t teach speed and this Jet has plenty

The Jets are excited about his world-class speed.

As they say in the football world, he can “flat-out fly.”

But some guys time fast, but don’t play fast. Mecole Hardman does both.

“I know he ran a 4.3, but he plays 4.3,” said Jets coach Robert Saleh about the team’s recent free-agent addition at wide receiver.

And with the former Kansas City Chiefs’ speed, he can help your running game, because he can force a safety out of the box because you must honor the deep ball whenever he’s on the field.

“He can blow the top off the coverage,” Saleh said.

And he can also offer you a lot of short pass options where he can gain big yards with his yards after the catch.

“It is very easy to get him the football with regards to jet sweeps, and screens and bubble (screens),” Saleh said.

Aside from his speed making him so dangerous on gadget plays, so does his vision.

“He’s got elite, elite field vision with the ball in his hands,” Saleh said. “I think he’s second in NFL in YAC (yards after catch), behind only Deebo Samuel.”

The former Georgia standout is eclectic in the open field.

“If you could just get the ball in his hands, he’s going to make something happen,” Saleh said.
