The Jets need to consider this coach . . .

If the Jets don’t hire interim coach Jeff Ulbrich as the full-time coach, Baltimore offensive coordinator Todd Monken should be on their shortlist of candidates.

Jets consultants Rick Spielman and Mike Tannenbaum need to consider this guy.

Many of you saw his work calling plays for the Ravens in their 30-23 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night.

The Chargers have been one of the NFL’s better defenses this season, and the Ravens put up close to 400 yards of offense on them.

Monken came to the Ravens in 2023 from the University of Georgia, where their Bulldogs won two national championships with him calling plays. The Georgia offense hasn’t been as good the last two years after Monken left.

He also has head coaching experience, leading Southern Mississippi from 2013-15. He left to return to the NFL, joining the Tampa Bay staff, because he wanted to be an NFL head coach.

Under Monken in 2018, the Buccaneers had the NFL’s top passing offense, and with Cleveland in 2019, Browns QB Baker Mayfield threw for a career-best 3,827 yards.

This guy should be on Spielman and Tannenbaum’s radar.

Not only is he a good play-caller, but he has head coaching experience, and worked with two of the best football cultures in his last two gigs, with the Bulldogs and Ravens.

The Jets need a culture change, and Monken has seen great culture up close over the last five years under coaches Kirby Smart and John Harbaugh.
