Another example of why paying Darrelle Revis around $12, 13 million per season isn’t such a bad deal.
Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson just received a two-year extension worth $38.5 million, including $13 million guaranteed. So when you add that to the five years and $35 million he had left on his old contract, his deal is worth seven years and $73.5 million. That averages out at $10.5 million a year.
Johnson is a tremendous player. I know he’s not at the same position as Revis, but he is a superstar. Johnson probably has as big an impact on Houston, as Revis does on the Jets.
Is Revis worth $5-6 million more per year than Johnson? Probably not. But that is what he wants.
