Every year, at the Jets’ pre-draft press conference, team executive Terry Bradway likes to throw out some interesting numbers about the process leading up to the selection meetings.
“We had 1,426 players we evaluated (this year). We visited 271 schools,” Bradway said. “We wrote over 5,000 reports (and) conducted over 300 interviews at the all-star games, the Combine, our 30 visits and also our local day. When we first worked the board about three weeks ago, we had about 250 players on our main board. We’ve probably whittled that down to about 220 (players).
“I think this is a draft that is very deep in the mid-rounds especially, and even later in the draft. I think there are going to be some players late in the draft and good-quality college free agents that are going to be available to us as we go through this.”
