Charlotte – This guy should really help improve the Jets’ run defense, which was a tad inconsistent last season.
All throughout training camp, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, who the Jets signed in the off-season, has done a solid job of stopping the run up the middle.
And he had another nice play on Thursday at the Jets’ practice against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, stopping running back Miles Sanders on a run up the middle after about a one-yard gain.
The 6-5, 330-pound former San Francisco 49er first-round pick should upgrade the Jets’ interior run defense.
“I’ve never had a camp like this,” Kinlaw told the Jets’ website in Charlotte after Thursday’s practice. “Just really imposing my will on people.”
One reason that has perhaps stopped him from having an NFL camp like this before was knee issues with the 49ers that lingered for a couple of years. He’s now healthy, and doing this thing.
“The health has finally caught up to the work ethic,” Kinlaw said. “Thank God for that.”
