The fact that people even thought it was a consideration is absurd . . .

The idea that the Jets would possibly let Breece Hall walk in free agency is kooky.

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell wrote recently: “But if Hall gets the chance to hit the open market, he should run away and never look back.”

But why would they let him hit the open market? He’s one of their best players, and today, Jets GM Darren Mougey announced that the team will use the franchise tag on Hall if they can’t reach a long-term deal.

The player re-tweeted somebody who praised his work and wrote “Free 20.”

Who cares? The Jets aren’t going to “Free 20.” Tweets don’t dictate policy

Hall is one of the Jets’ most talented performers, so it stands to reason they can’t let him walk.

While 1,000-yard rushing seasons aren’t what they used to be with 17-game seasons, the fact that Hall rushed for 1,065 yards last year is still impressive.

Considering the Jets had little passing game to speak of in many games due to some dubious QB decisions, Hall faced a lot of stacked boxes, and still got over 1,000, so even in a 17-game season, that is a noteworthy accomplishment.

Hall is an electrifying talent with size (5-11, 217 pounds) and world-class speed (4.39 forty). He has the size to break tackles, but also the wheels to take it the distance at any time. And as a receiver, he has the ball-tracking skills of a top-shelf wideout. You don’t let running backs with his kind of divergent skill set out of the building
