While many are banging the drum for the Jets to pick a wide receiver at 16, there could be another option available who would constitute a better value, and that is Penn State guard Olaivavega “Vega” Ioane.
The best guard in the draft, he’s a true road-grader who produces more pancakes than IHOP.
He might be too good to pass up at 16, even though many are begging the Jets to pick a WR in that spot.
Many trash the Jets’ wide receiver room from last year and ignore their QB issues from 2025, like Adonai Mitchell (picture above) and company could throw to themselves. Weird stuff.
True, the Jets signed Dylan Parham to play left guard, but they didn’t pay him a fortune, so there is nothing wrong with having him compete for the starting job with the best guard in the draft, if the Jets pick Ioane.
Can you imagine how dominant the Jets line could be with Olu Fashanu, Joe Tippmann, Armand Membou, Josh Myers, and Ioane?
Can you imagine how well they could run the ball with these five guys up front?
And QB Geno Smith is best with a strong run game to sell play-action fakes, opening bigger passing windows.
So while the fantasy football crowd is going to hate this suggestion, you could make an argument that Ioane should be in play at 16.
